Christmas Tree, Anyone?

Before I purchase a tree for the Power foyer, I thought I would reach out and see if anyone is planning on upgrading their tree this year and interested in donating their tree or any decorations to us.  I am hoping for a 12′ tree and all the trimmings.  If you are interested, please email me directly at marmstrong@santancs.com.  THANK YOU!

ACE Program for Sophomores

The Counseling Department is pleased to announce that students can apply for a scholarship to attend Maricopa Community College for FREE while in high school! The ACE program is offered through all Maricopa Community Colleges and we are excited to be partnering with Chandler Gilbert Community College for this great opportunity!

The ACE PLUS (Achieving a College Education) Program is an early outreach, two-year scholarship-based, college preparation program for high school students. The mission of this program is to increase the success rate of first generation, under-represented, and financially dis-advantaged college bound students. ACE PLUS aids the students in their successful completion of high school and assists them with a smooth transition into higher education. Students can earn up to 21 college credits during the course of their junior and senior years. Any sophomores from local high schools may apply.

If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please stop by and see Mrs. Taylor in the counseling office.

Nut Free School

As a friendly reminder we are a nut free campus.  Please remind your child(ren) of this.

Attendance

With attendance in class as a priority to enhance learning and increase student achievement, San Tan is offering Restorative Justice every Friday  afternoon  from 3:45-4:15.  Every week students’ attendance and tardies reports will be looked at.  If a student has reached 4 or more cumulative tardies and absences, an email will be sent to parents from Mrs. Walker, by Wednesday, informing the parents of the time to stay after school.  Mrs. Walker will then meet with the student Thursday to also inform the student of staying for Restorative Justice.

Please be aware that Restorative Justice is simply a reflective time to help build a goal for more efficiency and to make up time out of  the classroom.  Restorative Justice is not a detention setting, and we would like for the time to be more on personal growth and development and understanding of the importance of school and the classroom time.  We thank you in advance

for support as we continue to help shape our students with this very important workplace transferable skill. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Walker for any questions at kwalker@santancs.com.

PreACT

On November 29th, the Counseling Department will be offering the PreACT test

to help our high school students get prepared for one of the most common college entrance exams, the ACT. The PreACT is considered to be the official pre-test for the exam and will be ordered directly from the exam organization so that students can familiarize themselves with actual test content.

Please note that this test session takes place during the school day. We will be offering other test dates for the PreACT, but this will be our first session. It is highly suggested that students take the practice exams as many times as they can, to help familiarize themselves with test content. The test session will begin promptly at 8:30am and will take around 3-4 hours to complete.

There will be a registration fee of $20.00, which can be paid for in the front office. If you would like for your student to attend this test session and take the PreACT, please use the signup link to register:

PreACT Sign Up

Registration and payments will be open until end of day on November 13th.

All payments must be made by November 13th.

NO LATE PAYMENTS OR SIGN UPS WILL BE ACCEPTED
