My Bio
Howdy, I am Dr. Hadley. While I have a PhD in chemical engineering, education has always been my first love. Even as a professor at the university level, my research interests were pedagogical in nature. Specifically, I investigated how to teach engineers to work in teams, and I explored how students translate math in all of its forms.
My hope is I can bring that expertise, experience, and insight to the students at STCS. My time as a university professor brings a unique perspective to life after high school that I hope to share with the kids to prepare them for what is next.
I am originally from Glasgow, MT (the middle of nowhere) (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2018/02/20/using-the-best-data-possible-we-set-out-to-find-the-middle-of-nowhere/

). I grew up in a school like San Tan, so I do my best to bring out the best of what a small school can offer. I got my undergraduate degree in Colorado and my PhD in Nashville, TN. I migrated to Virginia afterwards to work at NASA for the National Institute of Aerospace. From there, I taught chemical engineering at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and at Arizona State University.
A goal of my wife and I was to open up a board game café. We did in the summer of 2019, but COVID hit as we were picking up business so it ended before we could really get it started. However, I still love board games and I play weekly with my kids and I play monthly with friends down in Queen Creek.
After a couple of years working odd jobs, I decided to come back to education to teach chemistry at my daughter’s school. I feel like I am meant to be here, so I embrace the experience and responsibilities in full.
